Ace: Have you taken the stats straight from your pet? Because the comparison you're showing is just not possible. There is no way your setup can be better than the suggested set. Remember the sets shown are without a pet. Price is given no consideration.

Ace: You forgot the fact that his build is without your pets stats added onto it. His build is just adding up the bonuses together

This item set page is brilliant.
At level 30 the number of equipment combinations
must be close to 300 million! What algorithm did
you use?

Never mind... figured it out.
Very useful all the same!!
Will you be tweaking it to take sets into account soon?

Ace: It's not as brilliant as it seems I'm afraid. At the moment it's just calculating each piece of equipment individually. I would like, however, to do it on a set basis, but the test I've done so far are not exactly quick, thought I'll be doing some tests to try to improve it to reasonable levels today. I've also solved the set bonus issue thanks to a sql guru here at work. (Thanks Richard!)

Yeah... I figured you had just put together the highest scoring item of each type. There's nothing wrong with doing it this way... the results the same and it's a lot faster.
What if you kept a list of the total points from set bonuses in a separate table. Then run 2 parses on each request.
The first parse will do exactly what it's doing now (calculating each piece of equipment individually). The second parse will then see if one of the sets from the level entered or below beats this.
It might be clumsy, but still MUCH quicker than working through all those combinations.

Ace: I could do that, but it would require more coding and I'm lazy. :) The page is using the new itemset query now (with set bonuses) and though it's a bit slow atm I've got some ideas on how to improve it.
If I can't get it to go faster though I might have to go to a more complicated solution.

*shrug* i more meant that i almost completely disregard hp and i don't really feel like fiddling with value ratios, so it'd be nice if i could just see everything with just raw data. granted, it's pretty straightforward with the first 7-8 levels, but after that the items actually diversify a bit and a perfect bunny needs to look at what happens for each set with ROUNDUP(totalDam*0.05,0) at a levelup to determine what works best for my perfect bunny. i know it's unreasonable to have a script written to figure that out, so i'm quite willing to do it myself, but the current setup isn't really designed with the do-it-yourself'ers in mind.
edit: it'd be nice if there was a tick box for whether or not you'd like to look at each item category. it'd be even nicer if there could be some way to directly compare two suits and tweak the gear in each of them, and have a way to store/quickly retrieve these suits--like an MD5 hash of the combined items' names or... something?

Head Predator's Mask
Body M4 Vest
Arm Chimera's Lionpaw
Foot Chimera's Talon
Weapon M4 Carbine Rifle
Combined damage 660.0
Combined armour 690.0
Combined hit points 4835.0
Combined cost 8128000
Combined average 1380.7
I disagree. The blue phantom set is way better than those. The combined average is 1428.04. However, I think your blue phantom helm stats messed up because the stats aren't 0, so that screwed it up.

Can we have an Exclude Campaign Items checkbox in the best items for level selector?

- by Eu Gene Lim at 2007/08/21 16:05:59 GMT+0
Jason: Yes. That's because I only search for items within 3 levels of the level searched for, and since there are no items above 25 the search fails. I'll make it fail a bit more gracefully. :)
Eu: I'll add that.

I was wondering if you have a page that is just a straight page, displaying every single item possible, so i can make comparisons of individual items?

I noticed the batman gear was one of those too.
But why call them campaign items? What is
different about them? Can those items not be
obtained any more?

Average value of two level 6 items:
Leather glove: 32.55
Hook of the Pirate: 22.55
Why is it that at level 6, leather gloves are
recommended, and at level 9, Hook of the pirate is recommended. Is attack worth more at this level?
Thanks

How come I can't find the Kokiri Hat anywhere?
Even on the set page, it's marked at a cost of zero!

Eddy: That's because the search would limit searches to within 3 levels of the level you're searching at to keep search times down. I've upped it to 4 now, is that enough?
Cellidor and Brian: The Koroki hat is loot only and can't be bought in the shop.

I'm on level 18 now and you suggest using Rotting Foot of the Undead but isn't Mathieu's Robo-Tail better?

Yes, you are absolutely right. This is because at the moment the search is only performed within 4 levels of the level specified, I might have to increase this, unfortunately this means that the search will take even longer.

Its very hard keeping up with the itemset suggested since you level up before getting the money. Could you addd a list that tells you what monster(and level) drops the item you are looking at?
- by Loko at 2007/09/08 20:41:24 GMT+0
- by Loko at 2007/09/08 20:41:24 GMT+0
Loko: To get enough money to buy all the armor needed, spend all your money on equipment before you level, then die repeatedly until you're back at 0 xp, then start increasing your xp again and repeat until you have enough money.
I have no idea of how the loot works (other than that you only get equipment at or below your level), so there won't be any drop lists.

I think a page should be created that displays which items have the best resale value based on original cost. In other words, what should i buy in order to get the most money when i sell it....this should be done for all items at all prices. Thanks a lot, i'm in the process of making a perfect pet and i want to buy the best reselling item so that i can do this dying and buying process as less as possible.

It would be helpful to have a page where you can just view the sets and in a list, and see what items are part of that set, how much they cost, and what level they are, kind of like the current item list you have, only for sets.

So I'm on level 12, refusing to level up until I get the Koroki Hat. Will I be playing for the rest of my life?
What's the resale value on it? I hope I didn't unknowingly throw it out early in the game...
